Seattle, WA October 2004 – The United
States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honored
Choice Organic Teas for purchasing clean, renewable
energy at the Better Business Through Green Power Conference
held at Qwest Field and Events Center in Seattle. Choice
Organic Teas is an exclusively organic tea line created
by Granum, Inc. that utilizes wind-generated power for
100% of their electricity usage. Green Power is defined
by the EPA as “electricity generated by renewable
energy sources including solar, wind, water, geothermal,
biomass and biogas.”
According to the EPA, the nation’s
single largest industrial source of air pollution is
conventional electricity generation. Participating in
the green power programs is one way to demonstrate commitment
to environmental protection. “The green power
purchases by companies here in the Northwest equate
to removing over 33,500 cars from the road,” said
Julie Hagensen of the EPA. Currently there are 500 organizations
partnered with the Green Power Partnership. To learn

Granum, Inc. introduced Choice Organic
Teas in 1989 with three teas from organic Japanese tea
gardens. Fifteen years later, they offer more than seventy
varieties of Black, Green, Oolong, White teas, and herbal
infusions available in tea bags and loose leaf. Choice
Organic Teas became the first tea-crafter in the US
to Fair Trade certify all qualifying teas. Choice Organic
