Have more questions about our certifications?
Since our start in 1989, we have offered only certified organic teas, making us the first exclusively organic tea company in the U.S. Our products and facility are certified organic by Quality Assurance International, an independent third-party organic certifying agency, and all our products carry the USDA Organic Certification seal.
Every aspect, from cultivation to handling and packaging of our teas, is carefully inspected to ensure the authenticity and integrity of our organic status. This certification ensures that no synthetic chemicals are used to grow our teas, resulting in healthier soil, healthier workers, and a healthier environment.

The Fair Trade Certified label is backed by Fair Trade USA, the leading third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in the U.S. In 2000, we worked with Fair Trade USA to become the first tea company in the U.S. to offer Fair Trade Certified teas.
Fair Trade Certified directly supports the lives of workers on tea estates and ensures that tea plantations are committed to social responsibility, community development, and environmental stewardship. Fair Trade tea growers and workers are beneficiaries of Fair Trade funds, which are used collectively to invest in programs that help improve their livelihoods and communities. Fair Trade workers also benefit through the guarantee of fair wages and a safe and healthy working environment.

In 2010, we became the first tea company to offer products verified by the Non-GMO Project.
The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization created to offer consumers a consistent non-GMO verified choice for organic and natural products that are produced without genetic engineering or recombinant DNA technologies. The seal allows shoppers to easily identify non-GMO verified items and helps reduce the likelihood of new GMO crops being commercialized.

Choice Organic Teas matches 100% of our facility’s electricity use with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) purchased from 3Degrees.
